What is Strike-Slip?
Diagram from Oracle Education Foundation, Think Quest, World Winds.
A Strike-Slip (also known as a slide fault) occurs when the two tectonic plates slide past one anther; a Transfrom Boundary. The resulting slide of the surface of the earth changes the ways streams and rivers will flow, long after the shock waves of the earth's movement is done. The resulting damage can be just as severe in these types of quakes as it is in any of the others.
